The UK’s regulator, the Gambling Commission and their Swedish counterpart Spelinspektionen have agreed to a ‘Memorandum of Understanding’, which will enable both bodies to facilitate communication and promote information exchange between the two authorities. Thus enhancing and building cooperation between the two organisations.
The aim of the MoU is to support closer working between the two organisations, and to support the sharing of best practice on areas such as regulatory policies and procedures.
Announced last week, the agreement will now see both regulators share information, with a view to strengthening their activities. With Spelinspektionen’s Game Inspector General Director, Camilla Rosenberg, stating: “This is an important agreement for us as we have a common interest in many areas. By opening communication channels between the authorities, we become stronger in our supervisory activities.”
Chief Executive Officer of the UK’s Gambling Commission, commented: “We have excellent relations with other gambling regulators from across the world and our new link up with the Swedish Gambling Authority will give more opportunities to share good practice on a whole host of regulatory issues, cooperate closely and take shared action where appropriate. We look forward to working with colleagues in Sweden over the coming months and years.”
